The brief
The Video Classification of Intubation (VCI) score needed a public home for research updates and a practical tool clinicians could use at the bedside. The site had to explain a relatively technical scoring system clearly, publish news about the project's publication milestones and provide a calculator that works reliably on desktop and mobile.
What we did
We built and maintain the site on WordPress with custom JavaScript driving the VCI calculator, blade type, POGO score and tube delivery components combined into a single score with contextual guidance notes for clinicians. The calculator reflects the order in which videolaryngoscopy is performed in practice, not just a static form.
Research announcements, citation details and educational video content sit alongside the tool so the site functions as both reference and working utility for contributors across multiple centres.
The result
The VCI manuscript was accepted for publication in the British Journal of Anaesthesia, with the site supporting dissemination and practical use of the score. We continue to host the platform and adjust the tooling as the research programme evolves.
